The Ketogenic diet also referred to as the Keto diet has become very popular these days. In fact, it’s become a trend for many to go in for a this diet.
But, we need to first understand that the Keto diet is not for everyone. First you need to consult your doctor and nutritionist and see whether it is meant for you. Also, it’s not very easy on the pocket and in the initial period one does experience nausea, headache known as the `Keto Flu’.Also, it is very difficult to cut down on carbs from our diet. Initially, it is recommended that you try a low-carb diet.
The keto diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet. It helps you lose weight and improve your health. So, what should you avoid on a Keto diet? Foods containing a lot of carbs, sugary and the starchy kind. This includes starchy foods like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and ultra-processed foods.
The diet should be moderately high in protein and will probably be higher in fat, since fat provides the energy that you are no longer getting from carbohydrate. Low-fat products usually provide too many carbs and not enough fuel from protein and fat.
It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis.
When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy. It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain.
